Introduction to Touring in Languedoc Roussillon

B&B@23 puts you squarely in the middle of the most amazing French countryside with easy access to an array of differing lifestyles and interests.  The bright lights of Toulouse, Montpellier and Perpignan are short distances away and a little further you have Andorra and Barcelona with the regional variations they offer.

While a little of the beaten path we are centrally located for those wishing to tour the Languedoc region and enjoy the great diversity on offer here.  The area is rich in history as well as in the flora and fauna.

The Land of the Cathars has had a brutal and dynamic past and traces of that history are all around to be seen and viewed by the visitor.  From the grandeur of the Cite in Carcassonne (the most magnificent medieval castle still standing) to the many ruined chateau including our very own, Puilaurens, that towers majestically over the back garden at B&B@23.

Touring the area has much to recommend it given the relatively uncrowded and well maintained roads.  Apart from a few hotspots it is possible to travel in relative ease and comfort even at the height of the season and indeed on many roads you may well not even see any other road users.

The rural roads of France can be a joy to travel on as they are generally superbly maintained but do be careful as they carry all manner of traffic and it is not unusual to encounter slow moving traffic or animals from time to time.
