Hiking and Walking Routes in Aude, Languedoc

Sentier Cathar Trail (GR) – Is a serious hike and no mean undertaking but truly representative of the area.  It takes in all the major Cathar castles starting at La Port Nouvelle in the east and ending at Montsegur to the west.  There are twelve recommended stages, a few of which a easily accessible from B&B@23 as day walks for the fit.

Chateau Puilaurens – We like to think of it as our ‘very own’ Chateau as it hangs over our back yard!  From the door of B&B@23 a brisk walker can walk to the foot of the Chateau and back down again within the hour.  Head out of Lapradelle toward Puilaurens and enter the forest on the right which is clearly marked.  A steep climb will take you up 500 metres but then the long walk down over the other side and through Puilaurens will have you heading back to Lapradelle.  It will take a little longer to scale the battlements and get to the very top but the views are worth it.
